Stirling, Tector, and Bowlers Shine in Ireland’s Consolation Victory

Jason Smith emerged as a beacon of hope for South Africa, scoring a resilient 91 and forming a 47-run partnership with Phehlukwayo. As the wickets fell around him, Smith batted with determination, displaying a range of strokes that included nine fours and four sixes. However, Fionn Hand broke the partnership, dismissing Phehlukwayo, who mistimed a pull shot.

Smith continued to fight bravely, but with 76 runs needed off just 36 balls, the pressure mounted. Hume eventually ended Smith’s impressive innings, with the batsman slicing a catch to deep backward point. Ngidi fell shortly after, and South Africa was bowled out for 215 in 47 overs, marking Ireland’s second ODI victory over the Proteas.
